A little bit about me...

Profile picture of Sam Luck, artist and printmaker of botanical linocut prints, Hampshire, UK.

"I am a printmaker, based in the Hampshire countryside. I create original handcrafted prints and botanical-themed wall art, inspired by the beauty of the flowers and plants I see throughout the year. I aim to make beautiful prints and gifts for the homes of fellow gardeners, walkers and nature-lovers."

I’ve always been drawn to art and making things by hand. I studied Fine Art and later Visual Communication at university, which led me to a career as a graphic designer. Printmaking came a little later, but it quickly became something I deeply connected with.

My linocut prints are inspired by the small details I notice in nature, often while out walking in the countryside with my dog. The changing seasons, quiet hedgerows, and delicate plants that appear at unexpected times of year all find their way into my work.

There’s something I love about the slow, thoughtful process of traditional printmaking. Each design begins as a hand-carved lino block before being carefully inked and printed by hand onto handmade paper. The natural texture of the paper and the slight variations in each print are all part of what makes the process special, no two are ever exactly the same.

Alongside printmaking I enjoy many other creative pursuits, from gardening and cooking to travelling and exploring new places. But time spent outdoors is always where I find the most inspiration. Nature has a quiet way of grounding us, and I hope my prints bring a small sense of that calm into the spaces where they hang.

Thank you for supporting handmade work and traditional printmaking.
