Product description

The common dogwood is a beautiful but often overlooked native shrub, found along woodland edges, hedgerows and scrubland throughout Britain. I was drawn to the elegant shape of its leaves and their delicate veins, which make a lovely subject for a small botanical linocut. As the seasons change, the leaves take on warm autumn shades before falling to reveal the dogwood's distinctive red stems, which add a splash of colour to the winter landscape. I love discovering these quieter details on walks, and this little print is a celebration of a familiar British plant that is easy to pass by without noticing.

This common dogwood leaf print is part of my mini woodland leaves print series. Small and collectible. They are hand printed on beautiful Japanese handmade paper, which has a translucent quality where you can see all the natural fibres. It also features a deckled edge that makes each piece feel truly special. These prints measure approximately 105 x 148 mm at the widest points, though there may be small variations due to the qualities of the handmade paper.

Bring the quiet beauty of the British woodlands and trees into your home with this mini common dogwood leaf botanical print. Perfect for cottage interiors, gallery walls, or as a thoughtful gift for gardeners, wildflower and nature lovers.

My artwork is hand printed in small batches, so please allow for subtle variations in colour and ink markings. Each print is truly unique. Produced as an open edition.

How to care for your print

To keep your linocut print looking its best, store or display it away from direct sunlight, moisture and extreme temperatures, as these can cause fading or warping over time.

If you're not framing it right away, keep it flat in its protective sleeve or between clean sheets of acid-free paper.

When framing, use a mount or mat to prevent the print from touching the glass. Paper with deckled edges looks particularly impressive when float mounted (a picture-framing technique where artwork is mounted on top of a backing board rather than hidden behind a traditional mount or mat).

With just a little care, your handmade print will stay beautiful for many years to come.
